From Proflight Zambia:
A Year of Growth and Milestones
Whether you’re a leisure or business traveller, we are delighted to serve you. In 2024, we focused on consolidation, resilience, and profitability while laying a solid foundation for our planned expansion in 2025.
One of the key highlights this year was the resumption of scheduled flights to Kasama in Northern Province on 19 March 2024, following improvements to the city’s airport runway and terminal. We now operate our 29-seat twin-turboprop Jetstream 41 aircraft on this route. To celebrate this, we introduced the flavour of Kasama filter coffee on our Kasama flights, and soon, this will be available across the entire Proflight network.
In August 2024, we expanded our fleet by acquiring a fifth CRJ-200 jet from Avmax in Canada. After inspection by the Zambian Civil Aviation Authority in Montana, USA, the aircraft was ferried to Lusaka in less than 24 hours—a remarkable feat! In the same month, we opened a new sales office at OR Tambo International Airport’s Terminal B in Johannesburg, further enhancing our international presence.
To prepare for the high tourism season, we launched scheduled flights to Kafue National Park in June. These flights provide seamless access to one of Africa’s largest parks for both domestic and international visitors.
Proflight was honoured to receive the Long-Term Partnership (Domestic Airline) Award from Zambia Airports Cooperation Limited (ZACL) during its 35th-anniversary celebration in September. This award reflects our strong and growing relationship with ZACL.
October marked a significant milestone for us as we celebrated a decade of successful CRJ aircraft operations.
Looking ahead, November saw the commencement of the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), a key step in our vision to become the first airline in Zambia to be listed on the IOSA registry and achieve IATA membership. IOSA certification offers numerous advantages, including lower insurance premiums, increased code-share opportunities, and enhanced safety and operational efficiency. This audit brings us closer to making our dream a reality.
In a further testament to our dedication, our CEO, Mr. Tony Irwin, received the CEO Africa Round Table’s Transport Achievers Award earlier this year. This prestigious platform brings together corporate leaders across Africa to drive economic growth, and the award exemplifies Mr. Irwin’s commitment to improving domestic and regional air travel.
From our Proflight Zambia family to yours, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday season filled with love, joy, and togetherness. As we prepare for an exciting 2025, we send our best wishes for peace, good health, and happiness in the year ahead. We look forward to welcoming you on board soon!
